Global Disability Summit – Children and Youth with Disabilities

#IncludeMeTOO Video Campaign

It has been 10 years since the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was adopted throughout the world. On 24th July 2018 Department for International Development (DFID) is co-hosting the Global Summit with the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and the Government of Kenya.

Include Me TOO with the British Council are supporting children and youth with disabilities to have their say. We want to increase the voices, rights, inclusion, participation and visibility of children and youth with disability in areas which matter to them #IncludeMeTOO #NowIsTheTime #DisabilitySummit

The video campaign will bring together children and youth with disabilities across the globe and all video films will be complied into a film to be shared at the Global Disability Summit taking place on 24th July 2018!

#IncludeMeTOO campaign is aimed for children and youth with disabilities upto the age of 30 years.

Closing date for video submissions: Friday 20th July 2018.

Instructions:
Each film to be no longer than 90 seconds to provide the following statement by first introducing their name, age, nature of disability or impairments and country they represent. Ensure the filming is filmed in landscape.

  • What are your dreams and aspirations?
  • What is your biggest challenge and barrier to your rights, inclusion or participation which you would wish to see removed?

Remember to hold up a sign with the hashtag #IncludeMeTOO when you say this final statement.
‘It is important to #IncludeMeTOO because ………..’

We welcome the support of schools and NGO’s to assist and encourage as many children and youth with disabilities across the globe to participate.

With signed videos it would be great if you can add captions or subtitles if possible or have an interpreter add voice over. You can also forward the text and our team can add to the videos in English .

Any videos sent in with community languages can you also send a translation in English as this will assist us to subtitle the videos.

What next? Get filming on you smart phones, with your schools and friends and let’s together share how we can build a Disability Inclusive & Safe Society for all.

Include Me TOO and the British Council in consultation with UK Department of International Development and International Disability Alliance are supporting disabled youth to have their say as they represent their peers, disabled children and youth from around the globe. Include Me TOO take a social model approach which incorporates a Equality, Diversity and Inclusion method in our work supporting social model terminology and the Single Equalities Act 2010 in the UK.

The terminology Include Me TOO will be using leading up to and during the Civil Society Forum and Global Disability Summit will reflect UNCRDP terminology in line with communication associated with the events.
